U10/U14 Girls Success

This has been a great week for the under age girls football at Moneyglass. On Sunday 25th April under 10s and under 12s played two games each against Glenariffe and Creggan and each age group won their both games. It is great to see girls at this age play and compete so well. All the girls enjoyed the day and I was told at the end of the day that they wanted to play more football. A good sign as this was the first of seven under age blitz.

The under 14s played St Brigids Tues 27th at Moneyglass pitch. They played very well and got their first win off the season, A great achievement as St Brigids had been unbeaten to this stage. Moneyglass hope to build on this win and are playing Ardoyne tues 24th at Ardoyne.

Moneyglass Girls Win Blitz

Twenty under 12 and under 10 Moneyglass girls travelled to Carryduff on Saturday 20th March to play in a blitz with Carryduff and Antrim under 12 and under 10 girls. The sun shone all day and a very enjoyable day was had by all. The girls played very well and both age groups won all their games-a great achievement considering the standard of the competing teams. This was a great start to the season for this age group and will be good practise for the under 12 and under 10 Go Games for Girls  which is starting at the beginning of May. This is the first year of such a competition and has been established and organised by Eddie and Anita(Moneyglass), Paddy and Siobhan(Antrim) and Padraic(Glenravell). There are nine participating teams and the fixture list can be viewed on the website.

Seniors’s Applaud Under12

Under 12 played Antrim on Monday night and had a shakey start with Antrim winning the first point and getting an early goal past Gavin ( bubbles ) Murray . But with heads up and determination the lads pulled it back to a draw at half time . The second half saw both teams battle out for dominance but the Under 12 excelled themselves and won the match with displays of good teamworm from all quarters of the pitch. The Senior team who were also training on that evening came down to watch as the lads played the last 15minutes and stood applauding the young team back into the changing rooms. Well done lads.

Final Score Under 12 3-11 vs Antrim 3-5

Under 12 @ Tir Na nOg

A confident U12 took to the field against Tir Na nOg  after last weeks win against Cargin . In the first half Randalstown got the better of the lads and were in front at half time . In the second half Moneyglass made up the difference with a couple of goals scored in quick succession . Gavin Murrey in goals also saved two attempts by Randalstown and Christopher Mc Greevy in the back line managed to block a goal scoring chance of the line .  A confident display by the team and a welcome result in a draw . Out of three matches they have only lost against Rasharkin and beat Cargin U12.

                                                 Well Done lads

Lisburn 4:02 - Moneyglass 6:13

Its a pity more parents did not have the opportunity to see this young team display their emerging talents and win against Lisburn . Moneyglass have displaced Lisburn from there forth position in the league .
