Moneyglass started off this game playing with composure and confidence, moving the ball quickly and taking some fine points. Twenty minutes into the game, Glenavy looked rattled as Moneyglass lead by six points.Gradually, however, Glenavy settled to their task, and as their passing improved, so they whittled away the deficit. The Moneyglass defence were frequently guilty of ball watching and paid the price, conceding three quick goals. At halftime the tables were turned, as Glenavy lead by six points.
In the second half Moneyglass fought back gamely, but never regained the lead, and eventually Glenavy ran out deserving winners by seven points.
This opening game of the league featured some very good passages of play from both teams, but overall the game was patchy, and both will be looking for improvement as the season progresses. Final score 1-9 to 4-7.
